Cranberry Sauce with a KICK!

This week I thought I would share some of my Thanksgiving dishes, beginning Monday with the appetizer I made. Today, my Cranberry Sauce.

I have never made homemade Cranberry sauce in my life and was determined to try it this year. My palate has changed over the years and I cannot stand the stuff in a can.

It is soo easy and delicious, I will never use the canned stuff again! BAN THE CAN!

1 bag fresh Cranberries (rinsed well)
1 mini sized Bourbon (I used Jack Daniels, 1.7 ounces)
Zest of 1 orange
1 bottle Orange Juice (small sized)
1/4 cup pure Maple Syrup
1 tbl ground Ginger

Place your cranberries in a saute pan, add the rest of your ingredients and let cook on medium high for about 20 minutes, you will hear the cranberries pop and it will naturally thicken up as it cooks

When it is almost the consistency you want, remove from heat, let cool and place in your refrigerator, it will firm the rest of the way up overnight!

I can never go back to canned sauce either. Adding maple sounds like a great idea.

Oh Cheryl, that's definitely got a kick to it! Good for you! I guess this wasn't on the "kiddies' table".
Love the addition of maple syrup. I know what you mean. I will never buy cranberry sauce again. It's so easy to make.

I must be honest that i didn't have any of this at dinner cause i am not very fond of whole cranberries, however the rest of the family just loved it and it was such a wonderful color. Cheryl did a fabulous job for her first try!!!

I bought fresh cranberries for Thanksgiving but then chickened out at the last minute. Now, after reading this I think I'm ready to tackle those berries!
Thanks for the encouragement!

if i'm being honest, the booze doesn't excite me nearly as much as the maple syrup. what a perfect sweetener!

I'm shocked that YOU have never made cranberry sauce in your life. You, the genius chef!
But this is awesome...What a kick to it! And I love that it doesn't have sugar.

I'm a jellied kind of girl :>

How to spatchcock a chicken or turkey!

Finishing some of Cheryl's drafts... Keeping spatchcocking simple. Using a VERY sharp cleaver or kitchen shears -- not scissors, carefu...
