Today is side dish #2 during Side Dish Week at Cooking Dunkin Style!
I adore Brussel Sprouts and my husband hates them. I told him I would make some that even he would love. The fact that I roasted them, really brings out the flavor and caramelizes the sprouts. A squirt of lemon juice and some zest, took them into heaven for me and likable town for him.
Hopefully, I can now eat them on a more regular basis, instead of just when he is out of town. My house still pleasantly stinks of them today!
Brussel Sprouts (however many you want to eat)
Olive Oil
Sea or Kosher Salt
tsp or so of lemon zest
1/2 lemon juiced (or juice of 1/2 a lemon)
Preheat your oven to 400 degrees
Cut the bottom stem off of your sprouts and take off any yucky outer leaves
Rinse them well and cut in half
Place the sprouts on a non-stick sheet pan, and drizzle on some olive oil and salt, mix well with your hands
Roast for 15 minutes or so, using a spatula, flipping them on occasion
Remove from the oven and sprinkle on the zest and lemon juice

i too am curious about brussels sprouts.
but that looks delish!
I am one of the few who love brussel sprouts. They look really good.
I am not a fan only beacause my mother would boil them until they were soggy when I was a kid. I have a feeling I would love them roasted.
Oooh, I'm a sprout fan! This sounds wonderful! I'm impressed that your hubby tried them even though he didn't like them in the past. Ah, the power of love! :-)
I love them too, I've never roasted them though. I love your description of them caramelizing! I have to try them this way!
RUN! ALIEN BRAINS ON A PLATTER!!!
I am a huge fan of the brussel sprout. I have never tried roasting them. You can bet I will now.
These look so good!I haven't tried roasting the sprouts, but I will try them soon! I also have a husband who does not like brussel sprouts, so I normally buy them only for myself and fix them when he's gone.Sigh~
Guess what?! I just ate a bunch of brussel sprouts! But I've never roasted them before...Tomorrow I SHALL!
roasting the life out of the suckers is the only way i can handle sprouts. they look perfectly charred and drained of life. :)
I like to chop them up and saute them in a little bacon grease then add some cream at the end. Sprinkle some crumbled bacon on top. Yum!
I'll have to try roasting though.
AGREED, roasting these little guys is the only way to go. i have a bunch in the fridge; i'll be roasting them up tonight!
