Caipirinha - Brazilian Cocktail

I picked my husbsters up from the airport on Sunday and one of the things he really enjoyed in Brazil was their National Drink, which uses is a liquor made from sugar cane and is called Cachaca.

The cocktail itself is called a Caipirinha (pronounced kie-purr-EEN-yah)

He said it was a very refreshing drink on a hot day, and he wanted to make it for me to try at home. I must say I loved it. They do sneak up on ya tho!

Here is what you need to make one!

Lots of ice
Limes
Cachaqa (pronounced Ka chah sah -- your local liquor store should have it)
sugar (we used equal)
muddler

Cut limes into 1/4 inch thickness, remove the pith, leave skin on

take 1 1/2 lime slices, muddle in the glass or martini shaker, add 1 tsp sugar, 2 oz of Cachaga and ice, mix well and enjoy!
Repeat cautiously!

Yeah! Your hubby is home! That's the last long trip, right? How very brilliant of him to bring home the recipe for this drink! Sounds great for the mid-90 weather we're having today! :-) PS: My hubby is starting to weaken on the dog front. Still not a yes, but no longer a firm "no". Perhaps one of these drinks would loosen him up a bit!

This is my favorite drink at a local bar in KC! They add some maraschino cherries, and it tastes like a cherry limeade!

My husband used tod rink this in his country, Uruguay, right below Brazil. One day he had an urge to make one and they dont sell Cachaca at Utah Liquor stores. {SHOCKER!} So we drove six hours to Vegas to buy this. We brought it home and opened it up at a new years eve party. Holy cow! At first we just made Caipirinhas and then we just started playing games for shots. I do not remember much past midninght!

Haha .. proceed cautiously.. love that warning.

How to spatchcock a chicken or turkey!

Finishing some of Cheryl's drafts... Keeping spatchcocking simple. Using a VERY sharp cleaver or kitchen shears -- not scissors, carefu...
